Devils

My first Scaniverse splat. A little iddy bitty 3.5” x 2.5” canvas painting.

I did a few splat scans. This one is:

  • Mesh scan

  • I removed as much from the surface as possible

  • Was able to crop out the environment elements after processing

  • The yellow ochre / golden side edges of the canvas disappeared

For next time:

  • I wonder about having consistent lighting all around

  • Perhaps a foamcore makeshift lightbox for photographing + bounced lighting

  • I wonder if I could use my Canvas light arm to rotate around the model so it’s more steady??? Like a sort of steady-cam sorta thing to get a more precise scan around the full object?

  • Create a less distracting / opinionated easel. Maybe I’ll paint it white?

Nonetheless, a fun way to experiment from traditional 2D expressive painting —> to 3D scan.

Mental illness is a bitch.

I’m lucky to have the strength and courage to explore my inner worlds - and to have a lot of practice doing so, with helpful resources and support. Not everyone has that….
