Oregon Plein Air with Heather

Watercolor painting of a waterfall in Oregon
Watercolor painting of a river log with mossy green growth

Heather and I have been making an concerted effort to go out in nature regularly to paint in the wild!

In contrast to my ArtCenter days, plein airing is now very freeing, much more fun, and less about “getting it right.” Now, it’s about meeting up with a buddy, chitchatting, appreciating our love for nature, fiddling our ridiculous out-in-the-wild gear, and embracing FUN in art making WITH nature.

Oregon has the most beautiful scenery within and right outside of Portland. And we’re determined to paint it, hot dang it!!

Here are two paintings from our adventures out in The Gorge.

Watercolor with gouache.
